Let Your Freak Flag Fly, A Ode to the Cosmic Remote Control
By Arlo Agogo - a human storyteller
Hey now, you beautiful cosmic cats and kittens, dig this: “Let your freak flag fly.” That ain’t no square bumper sticker wisdom, man.
It’s straight from the wild, wiggling heart of the ’60s—Jimi Hendrix bending strings in “If 6 Was 9,” Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young waving it proud on Déjà Vu. Back when the hippies were telling The Man to take a hike, it meant:
Be your weird, wonderful, unfiltered self. No apologies. No combing the beard for the normies. Just pure, unadulterated you.
But dig way deeper, past the surface jive, past the polite “how’s the weather” small talk and the résumé recital. Your freak flag? That ain’t some voice rattling around in your skull like a loose marble. Nah, baby.
The real consciousness—the deep-down soul voice, the king of your innermost thoughts—doesn’t even live in your head. It’s beamed in from a parallel universe, controlled by some cool, beret-wearing beatnik cat lounging on a cosmic beanbag chair in an alternate dimension. Him or her, I am a man so my guy is a him.
Call him the Groovy Overlord.
He’s got the remote. He’s got the vibes. And through some far-out quantum entanglement (or “interstate molecular entanglement,” as I like to joke while waving my hands like a mad scientist), he’s running the show down here on Earth while you and I just handle the day-to-day traffic.
See, we’ve all got three voices, like a jazz trio trying to keep the gig together:
  • The People Voice – the moderate, smiley one you use at the coffeehouse or the office. “Nice weather we’re having. How’s the family?” Safe, rehearsed, doesn’t scare the squares.
  • The Thinking Voice – the practical operator that gets stuff done. Lists, logic, “remember to buy oat milk and pay the electric.” He’s the reliable rhythm section, keeping the beat so you don’t float away.
  • The Deep-Down Freak Flag Voice – that’s the star soloist, the soul cat, the one that only pipes up when the room gets quiet and the neon buzzes low.
  • And that one? That’s not you thinking.
  • That’s the Groovy Overlord in the parallel pad dropping wisdom through the ether. He’s the king. You’re just the earthly antenna picking up the signal.
Picture this, daddy-o: You’re at the café, some slick chick or cool daddy slides up. Most cats put on the People Voice mask—blah-blah, small talk, fitting in. But when you let the freak flag fly?
You tune into that parallel broadcast. Suddenly you’re rapping: “You know, sometimes I feel like my real self is kicking back in another dimension, pulling my strings like a beatnik puppeteer, and this whole conversation is just the echo.”
They blink. They laugh.
Or they back away slow like you grew tentacles. But the right ones? They lean in, eyes sparkling, because they just felt the cosmic static.
It’s comical as all get-out. Here we are, strutting around like we’re in charge of our own heads, when really some far-out philosopher-king in Dimension X is dictating the deepest grooves.
“Handle the groceries and the emails,” he tells your practical voice. “Smile and nod at the neighbors,” he says to the social one. But when it’s time for truth? He cranks up the volume on the freak channel and lets the weirdness flow.
Pigeons as government drones? Socks vanishing into Narnia portals? Those aren’t your random thoughts—
.....they’re dispatches from the Groovy Overlord, beamed straight into your soul basement.
Remember Liar Liar? Jim Carrey spilling every raw truth? That’s your freak voice on full blast—no filter, no script, just pure parallel-universe honesty serum.People freak out, laugh, get uncomfortable… but they feel something real.
The Groovy Overlord don’t do b.s.
He’s too busy grooving to the music of the spheres.
And silence? Man, silence is when the signal comes in clearest.
You don’t gotta fill every quiet moment with noise. Just sit there with that little knowing smile, like you’re tuned to a station only you (and your parallel controller) can hear.
The anticipation builds. People get antsy. Then—boom—you drop a pearl from the other side: “Ever notice how time feels like a rubber band? Snap it too hard and old memories come flying back.” Gold, baby. Pure cosmic vaudeville.
This is where love and connection get electric. Most dating is two People Voices fencing with polite masks: “What do you do? Netflix and chill?” Snoozeville. But when you let the deep voice speak?
You’re channeling the Groovy Overlord live on air. “
Listen, I got this wild notion that my real consciousness is chilling in a parallel pad, controlling my freak flag like a remote, and sometimes I just gotta let it fly.” No games. No strategy. Just soul-to-soul, dimension-to-dimension communication.
It’s scary-sexy. Butterflies meet quantum entanglement. The right ones feel seen, honored, refreshed—like they finally met another antenna tuned to the same weird frequency.
Psychologically, they call it inner speech or the authentic self. But dig it: that deepest layer ain’t even local. It’s non-local, baby. Jung would’ve loved this— the Self connecting across realities, the shadow dancing with alternate-universe beatniks.
Letting it fly means telling folks upfront: “Warning—I might channel some far-out wisdom from the parallel pad today. Might get strange. You in?” Some edge toward the door. Others light up like they just found their tribe.
And here’s the beautiful truth, you magnificent oddball: There’s only one of you.
Your exact mindset, that specific cocktail of quirks, cosmic questions, and parallel broadcasts? Nobody else has it. Not a single other human on this spinning rock is tuned to your Groovy Overlord’s exact station.
That makes you a freak. And that makes you special.
Gloriously, unapologetically special. By flying that freak flag high, you’re not just being weird—you’re sending out the signal:
Talk to me. I am open for discussion. I’m broadcasting from the deep place. I’m ready to groove soul-to-soul with anyone brave enough to tune in.
The world’s packed with scripted players reading the same boring page. Be the one improvising from the parallel pad. Wear the mismatched socks. Tell the barista your latte comes with existential dread and a side of interdimensional giggles.
Dance like the Groovy Overlord is scoring the soundtrack. Love, like the outcome doesn’t matter because the honesty already won the game.Hoist that flag, beautiful weirdos. Paint it with your quirks, your wild takes on existence, your unfiltered raps from the other side.
The right cats and kittens will see it snapping in the breeze and raise theirs too. Two (or three or ten) beautiful freaks grooving through this carnival called life, all while some beatnik kings in parallel universes chuckle and crank the volume higher.
Because when you let that deep voice do the talking—the one beamed in from beyond—you’re not just chatting. You’re connecting heart to heart, soul to soul, dimension to dimension.
 Freak flag to freak flag.
And that, my friends, is the real interstellar groove. Now go fly that thing, you magnificent, one-of-a-kind oddball.
The Groovy Overlord approves.

Footnote..... with modern quantum computing there is a hugh effort to find where consciousness exist. Is it in your head or with your groovy overlord from a another reality I came up with? "Let's Wonder".
